Become an IMAGO Partner: Your Comprehensive Guide to a Successful Partnership

Sell Your Visual Content via IMAGO: How to Become a Partner

In today’s photography landscape, there is no shortage of content. Images of Lionel Messi or the Berlin TV Tower are already widely represented in our portfolio. That is exactly why we are looking for strong partners who can meaningfully expand and complement our collection.

In this article, we will explain what matters when applying for a partnership with IMAGO.

How Do You Become a Partner? What Is IMAGO Looking For?

Consistency and Long-Term Collaboration

IMAGO is looking for photography, video, and content from established photographers and agencies, as well as emerging talents. We value long-term partnerships that bring out the best in everyone involved.

A key requirement is the continuous and regular delivery of content that enhances our catalog. Our platform is not designed for occasional uploads of a few images. Instead, it offers the opportunity to inspire global editorial teams and clients on a daily and weekly basis with high-quality visuals.

Volume

As a leading provider in the editorial mass image market, our database offers an extensive portfolio of content. More than 800 million images and videos are available to our clients.

Due to this scale, it is essential for new contributors to upload a solid volume of images at the beginning of the partnership. Equally important is a well-captioned archive that supports your ongoing productions from the very start. A strong and exclusive archive can also compensate for periods with fewer current productions.

Metadata

The use of metadata in accordance with IPTC standards is essential for any partnership. Without proper labeling, your images cannot be found by our clients—which means no sales.

Captions and keywords should always be precise and meaningful. Below are the key IPTC fields required:

  • Caption: Description of the content, names of depicted persons, date of capture, event (if applicable), and location (if not already included in location fields)

  • Date Created: Date the image was captured or created

  • Keywords: Relevant search terms and keyword variations (without duplicating the caption)

  • Headline: Title or event shown in the image (without duplicating the caption)

  • By-line: Name of the photographer/creator

  • Copyright Notice: Name of the copyright holder (e.g., agency name)

Please note that IPTC field names may vary depending on the software used.

Speed of Delivery

In today’s editorial mass image market, one factor stands above all: speed. Especially in sports photography, it is crucial that your images are made available to the world as quickly as possible.

Did Harry Kane score another hat-trick? Was there a surprise winner in Formula 1? Editorial teams and clients around the globe want to illustrate these moments immediately.

Even a few initial images during a live event are enough to support editorial coverage. The faster you upload your images, the greater their visibility—and ultimately, the higher your potential revenue.
