A **license** is a legal agreement between you (the licensee) and the copyright holder or licensor that defines how, where, and for how long you can use the image. # It's important to note that the creator or copyright owner **retains ownership** of the image. They control its usage and distribution rights, even after the license is granted. This means that while you may have the right to use the image, you do not own it and must adhere to the specific guidelines in the licensing agreement. ## Licenses can vary significantly in scope: - **Duration**: Some licenses may limit the time you can use the image. - **Platform**: The license can specify where the image can be used (e.g., on a website, social media, or print). - **Geography**: Some licenses restrict usage to certain countries or regions. - **Type of Use**: Licenses often define whether the image is for **editorial purposes** (e.g., news or blogs) or **commercial use** (e.g., advertising, packaging). By purchasing a license, you agree to these terms, ensuring that you can legally use the image while protecting the original creator's rights.  - ![Editorial Images](https://blog.imago-images.com/hs-fs/hubfs/imago767938903.jpg?width=4898&height=3348&name=imago767938903.jpg) IMAGO Editorial Content - ![Sports Images](https://blog.imago-images.com/hs-fs/hubfs/imago1051516253.jpg?width=3543&height=2362&name=imago1051516253.jpg) IMAGO Sports Content - ![Entertainment Images](https://blog.imago-images.com/hs-fs/hubfs/imago0480396174h.jpg?width=3268&height=2179&name=imago0480396174h.jpg) IMAGO Entertainment Images - ![imago128152572](https://blog.imago-images.com/hs-fs/hubfs/imago128152572.jpg?width=6537&height=4358&name=imago128152572.jpg) IMAGO Creative Images - ![Archival Content](https://blog.imago-images.com/hs-fs/hubfs/imago59987114.jpg?width=4902&height=3609&name=imago59987114.jpg) IMAGO Archive Content - ![imago319838696](https://blog.imago-images.com/hs-fs/hubfs/imago319838696.jpg?width=5472&height=3648&name=imago319838696.jpg) IMAGO All in Videos ## **Types of Licenses at IMAGO** IMAGO offers several categories of licenses to cater to different needs: 1. **Rights Managed (RM)** – This license grants one-time use for editorial purposes, such as news articles, blogs, or social media posts.
